Privacy Policy for Screenshot & Edit

Effective Date: October 23, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Screenshot & Edit, developed by Cao Van Thanh, handles information when you use the Chrome extension. The extension processes screenshots locally in your browser and does not send screenshots or browsing data to the developer.

2. Contact

For questions about this policy, contact admin@hamatim.com.

3. Information the extension processes

Screenshot & Edit processes information only to provide a capture feature you explicitly start:

  • Page content in a screenshot: when you choose visible-area, selected-area or full-page capture, Chrome provides the pixels for the tab you selected. Full-page capture temporarily scrolls the page to collect its visible sections and restores the original scroll position. Region selection uses an extension overlay injected only after you request that action.
  • Tab information: the active tab's URL and title may be read locally to check whether capture is supported, apply your disabled-site setting, and create capture metadata or a suggested filename. This information is not sent to the developer.
  • User-created settings: the extension stores capture preferences, disabled-site entries, and custom context-menu group/action names, contexts and capture options. Settings use chrome.storage.sync, which Chrome may synchronize across your signed-in Chrome profile according to your Chrome Sync settings.
  • Capture history: screenshots, thumbnails and related metadata (such as dimensions, capture time, source host and filename) are stored in the extension's IndexedDB database in your browser profile.
  • Temporary operation state: chrome.storage.session stores transient countdown and last-error metadata. Screenshot bytes are stored in the local extension database; they are not put into synced settings.

4. How information is used and shared

The above information is used only to capture, edit, reopen, export, copy, print and manage screenshots as requested by you. Screenshot & Edit has no account system, analytics, advertising, remote backend or extension-initiated network transfer. The developer does not receive screenshots, page content, settings or capture history.

Chrome may synchronize settings when you have enabled Chrome Sync. When you choose Save, Chrome writes the resulting file to your configured downloads location. When you choose Copy, the screenshot is written to the clipboard. Those actions are controlled by you and handled by Chrome.

5. Storage, retention and deletion

Settings remain in Chrome storage until you change or remove them, or uninstall the extension. Capture history remains in the extension's local IndexedDB until you delete individual entries, clear the gallery, or remove the extension and its browser data. Files saved to Downloads and images copied to the clipboard are managed separately by Chrome and remain until you remove them.

6. Permissions

The extension requests activeTab, tabs, scripting, storage, downloads, clipboardWrite and contextMenus to capture a tab after a user action, inject its on-demand selection/full-page helper, save preferences and history, create context-menu actions, download screenshots, and write to the clipboard when requested. It declares no host permissions and no always-running content scripts.

7. Children, changes and acceptance

Screenshot & Edit is a general-purpose screenshot utility and does not knowingly collect children's personal information. This policy may be updated when the extension's data practices change; the effective date above will be revised. Your continued use after an update means you have read the revised policy.
